Day 1 in Rolim...

Today has been hot, hot, hot. The hottest day in Brazil for us so far and heat that has sweat trickling down your back in 10 seconds flat! Nobody sits out in the sun here- only mad dogs and English men as they say, though not us- far too busy!
We visited Giselle`s school (Giselle did the GSE exchange to our district las year- so it`s been great to see her again) where Ursy did an admirable job of presenting about school life in Britain and inviting questions from the pupils about the similarity and differences. After that we visited a project that Rotary in Rolim de Moura has invested heavily in- `Pastoral de Menor`, which like other projects we`ve visited provides a `creche´ for children of poorer families outside of school hours to allow their parents to work. This was one was very impressive with the children treating us to to singing and dancing. We were each given a personalised hand-sewn towel. We were very touched and also very impressed with the young people`s and the teachers`dedication.
Tonight was our presentation to several clubs in the area and I think for the first time it went without a technical hitch. Good food and good company!
